There are now 2 outbreaks at chicken packaging plants here in BC, the United Poultry in East Vancouver and Superior Poultry in Coquitlam. There have been 80 cases confirmed between them over the last few days, leading to notable spikes in our daily reports from public health. We are once again reminded that it is safe to consume the chicken from these plants still, as there is no data to suggest you can catch COVID-19 through food. More info can be found here.
It’s hard to believe how long we’ve had to Isolate away from our friends and loved ones, staying inside as much as possible. The CERB benefit was made with a plan to last for 4 months, which means we’ve got a little over 2 months left before it runs out. Will Canada be ready to return to “normal” by then? Can Canada afford to keep paying people to stay home? Can we afford the risk of increased human interactions? Unfortunately we still do not know the answer to any of these questions, and many Canadians are certainly feeling the stretch at this point.
London Drugs has come up with a great idea for supporting local small businesses. They’re now making space in their stores for small businesses to display and sell their products. You can apply to take part here.
That’s all for now, stay safe everyone!
