I hope this is necessary, but I want to address the conspiracy theory that Bill Gates is somehow going to implant a tracking device into people by way of a COVID-19 vaccine that doesn’t even exist yet.
It boggles my mind that anyone who lives in this decade would think such a thing, but let’s look at it for a moment. Firstly, as we all know, cell phones already track our movement and data quite effectively. There is no reason anyone would spend the development costs to make a sub-dermal microchip in mass-produced volumes to attempt to do the same task. Secondly, Bill Gates isn’t even indirectly involved with the vast majority of COVID-19 vaccine candidates. Thirdly, this whole conspiracy theory was sparked by a comment which was effectively about digital vaccination passports. You can read more about how this conspiracy theory can be debunked here. Hopefully you will never need to argue with anyone about it.
According to Worldometers, the total number of known COVID-19 inflections has now surpassed the 2 million mark. The rate of infection keeps increasing, and the time taken between milestones is getting shorter and shorter.
I’ve seen some rumblings from Trump that he wants to loosen the border restrictions between Canada and the USA. I think I speak for most Canadians when I saw that I hope that doesn’t happen anytime soon. Essential traffic only is working well for us so far, let’s not take any necessary risks. And finally, BC has now been kinda-sorta-but-not-really locked down for a month now. It’s been difficult at times, and psychologically draining to go without social interaction for so long, but I think most of us have done a really good job. Thank you to everyone who has been part of the solution!
