Today has been a busy news day! Early today it was announced by Premier Horgan that schools would be reopening on a part time optional basis, as of June 1st. There will be protective measures in place, such as distance between desks, halved maximum capacity school buses, and no sharing of school supplies, phones, or food at school. You can read more about it here.
In other news, the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment has recently recommended that single people may want to find a “sex buddy” during isolation, and encourages discussing safe ways to engage in forms of sexuality, including meeting with the same person for physical and/or sexual contact, or sexual interactions at a distance. More information on their recommendations can be found here.
The US lab Sorrento has potentially exciting news. They claim to have found an antibody that provides “100% inhibition of SARS-CoV-2 virus infection of healthy cells after four days incubation. The study is very preliminary at this point, and still needs to be peer reviewed and trialed with humans, so please meter expectations accordingly, but it gives us some hope that we may not need to wait for a vaccine. It would definitely be nice to have a real treatment against COVID-19, rather than just fighting the symptoms. Here’s a link for more info.
That’s all for now, stay safe everyone!
