Yesterday I reported that Unifor, the union that represents a majority of the people that work for Translink, had called upon Translink to scrap their plans to temporarily layoff about 1,500 workers this coming May 18th. Today I am happy to share that Translink has done exactly that. All service reductions are being reversed, and Translink will be back to their normal operating levels shortly. When speaking with a local business owner, it was brought up to me that BC’s recent plan for businesses re-opening has very few specific requirements, and the ones it does have are almost exclusively aimed at the businesses that were previously ordered closed. It was summed up to me as “let your staff and your customers decide if they are satisfied”. I wonder if there will be anyone to contact if your workplace doesn’t put adequate safety measures into place?
